Fruit of Spirit #8 Kindness

Kindness is mentioned in the Bible over 100 times and the “kind” over 400 times. This makes me think WOW, this is something we really need to pay attention to. How much energy does it take to be kind? I think less than being unkind. Kindness is the act of charity or lifting up of others. The fruit of kindness is the Christ-like characteristic of behaving toward others as God has behaved toward them.

Examples of kindness to read about in the Bible are The Good Samaritan, Ruth, Boaz, The Widow of Zarephath, Moses, Joseph, Dorcas, Paul and Barnabas.

Ways to show kindness to others: Tell someone when you think positively about them, say please and thank you, use a calm tone of voice, keep your anger in check, let someone borrow something, help someone with a task they need completing are just a few things you could do each day.

Bible verses about kindness:

Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you. Eph 4:32

A man who is kind benefits himself, but a cruel man hurts himself. Proverbs 11:17

Whoever pursues righteousness and kindness will find life, righteousness an honor. Proverbs 21:21

Thus says the Lord of host, Render true judgements, show kindness and mercy to one another. Zech 7:9

Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. Romans 12:15

Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done. Proverbs 19:17

And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up Galatians 5:22
