When we plant something we know that it will take time to produce a flower, fruit or vegetable. We can wait patiently because we know the end result. But in life, we don’t always know what the end result is going to be or we know but we want it now. God will give us the patience we need if we listen, study and speak his word.
The fruit of forbearance means that we must make a conscious effort to rest in the patience that the spirit gives. Forbearance has two meanings; 1) is to delay a repayment for a debt and 2) self-control. We wait on the Lord to sustain us.

Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering. Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another. Col 3:12-13
Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, forbearance and patience, not realizing, that Gods kindness is intended to lead you to repentance. Romans 2:4
