Fruit of the Spirit #3 Love

But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness. Philemon 1:7

Love the emotion of the heart. Love is mentioned in the NkJ Version of the bible 361 times and in the ESV 551 times. There are 4 kinds of love described in the bible; romantic love, love between family members, a deep emotional bond that connects two people and the love that God has for us.

I believe we all strive to live in love. If the world looked at how to love each other instead of finding ways to break each other down on to condemn people what a better place it would be. Our motto should be love like Jesus.

The one verse that says it all, “God is love.” 1 John 4:8 tells us if we love we are being with God. Let us all strive to love more.

1 Corinthians 13: 4-8 gives us the biblical definition of love. “Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrong doing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hope all things, endures all things. Love never ends.”

More verses about love:

So how hope, faith and love abide; these three, but the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13:13

Let love be genuine. Abhor what is Evil; hold fast to what is good. Roman 12:9

But love your enemies, and do good, and lend expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil. Luke 6:35

This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. John 15:12

Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth. 1 John 3:18
