Sometimes I open the bible and read a verse and think. Wow, that is just what I needed today. I read the verse; But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness. Philemon 1:7
I decided to take the verse apart and research each word. I started with the word fruit. The word fruit is used over 60 times in the New Testament. The word fruit is often a symbol of abundance, the bounty of the harvest, and associated with goodness of fertility.
As a Christian, we are the fruit harvested by God. We should give God the fruits of our labor by giving to the church, poor and needy.
Verses about fruit:
Bear fruit in keeping with repentance. Matt 3:8 ESV
But the wisdom from above first pure, the peaceful, gentle open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. James 3:17 ESV
I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. John 15:5 ESV
So as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him; bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. Col 1:10 ESV
Either make the tree good and it’s fruit good, or make the tree bad and it’s fruit bad, for the tree is known by it’s fruit.
